Farmoor

Farmoor is a small modern village on the B4044 Oxford to Eynsham road at its junction with the B4017. It was developed in the early twentieth century and took its name from Farmoor Common which then was an open field.

The village nestles under the banks of Farmoor Reservoir where there is a four-mile walk around the lake which offers views of the water, woodland paths, Thames riverside meadows, and nature reserves. The reservoir is also one of the top birdwatching venues in Oxfordshire and offers a combination of open reservoir, woodland, and riverside wetlands and meadows which attract a great variety of birds. Oxford Sailing Club runs dinghy and windsurfing racing and training events and the Oxford and District School Sailing Association provides sailing experience and training for young people and schools in the area.

The parish church is the Church of Farmoor St. Mary, a small modern stone and wood-clad church in a residential cul-de-sac.

The Oaken Holt Rest Home in the village was the location used for the 1990s BBC TV sitcom Waiting for God.
